Diving at the Flowergardens

July 15th, 2004 by James

Last weekend I was fortunate to be able to make a trip to the Flowergardens as a volunteer diver for NOAA. As a “Naturalist on Board” my duties were to help educate divers about the marine sanctuary, answer questions about critter ID, and help reinforce behavior that doesn’t harass the wildlife (riding the Manta rays, waking up the turtles, etc). I say it was a fortunate trip for me as I have had my previous 4 trips cancelled due to bad weather, and helping NOAA as a volunteer diver is always fun.

I shot the Nikon D100 in the Sea and Sea housing. Dual SS200’s and the Nikkor 16mm were used for wide angle, and dual Inon Z220’s and the Nikkor 105mm Micro were used for macro. Here are a few sample photos:

Offshore Trip to SS332

July 7th, 2004 by James

I travelled offshore to manage some piping hookup for my company last week. According to Murphy’s law, I mobilized at the worst possible time - again. This time it happened to be over the 4th of July weekend, so there goes vacation…

Here are some photos from the helicopter and the platforms of the various vessels onsite, and the piping design/installation that I was managing:
